How Investi brings real portfolio data into AI-powered investment research

Investi is building a single research workspace for investors who do their own work — company pages, notes, and an AI analyst that can see the portfolio you actually own, connected through SnapTrade.

Individual investors who conduct their own fundamental research often work across several disconnected tools.

They may use a brokerage app to see what they own, a filings website to investigate a company, a notes app to record their thinking, and a general-purpose AI assistant to ask questions. Each tool handles part of the process, but none carries the full context of the investor’s portfolio, research, and previous decisions.

Investi is building a single research workspace designed to bring those pieces together.

The browser-based platform gives investors a dedicated page for each company they follow, combining live prices, fundamentals, earnings history, analyst estimates, and personal research notes. An AI analyst sits directly inside the workspace, where it can analyze the underlying data, show the steps it followed, and propose changes to the investor’s notes for approval.

Investi also connects to investors’ brokerage accounts through SnapTrade, allowing its research tools to incorporate actual holdings, cost basis, cash balances, account details, and transaction history.

“Most people doing their own research are working across a broker app, a filings site, a notes app, and a chatbot that knows nothing about what they own. We wanted all of it in one place, with an analyst that can see your actual portfolio and remembers what you decided and why. The intelligence to do real analysis is finally cheap. What was missing was somewhere to put it.”

A workspace for investors who want to do their own research

Investi is built for investors who want to form their own conclusions before they invest.

Users organize the companies they follow into folders, similar to how a developer might organize files. Each company page combines market and financial data with the investor’s own notes, research, and investment thesis.

The AI analyst can answer questions in plain language, but it is designed to do more than generate a response. It reads the relevant figures, shows the steps it followed, and surfaces the numbers behind its conclusion so the investor can check the work.

Each company page pairs market and financial data with the investor's own notes and thesis.

When the analyst recommends changing something in a user’s notes, it does not silently overwrite the content. It proposes an edit and waits for the user to accept or reject it.

Investors can also document a process they want to follow before making an investment. Once that process has been written down, the analyst can apply it to future research.

Gabri compares the experience to what Cursor provides for programmers: not a separate chatbot that users visit occasionally, but the workspace where the work already happens, with the model built into it.

Investi does not provide trading signals, select themes, or decide which companies a user should follow. According to the company, that neutrality is deliberate. The product is intended to support an investor’s own process rather than impose an investment philosophy.

What users are saying

The product experience has also stood out to early users.

“The UI and UX look amazing, as opposed to most fintech applications one runs over. It is gorgeous. Good work.”

Why Investi built the product

Investi saw a gap between professional financial terminals, brokerage applications, investing content platforms, and general-purpose chatbots.

Professional terminals can provide deep information, but they are priced and designed for institutional teams. Brokerage apps make it easy to see an account and place a trade, but their primary purpose is different from helping an investor build and maintain a detailed research process.

Other investing products may target individual investors but still shape the experience around alerts, recommendations, predetermined watchlists, or themes.

General-purpose AI assistants solve a different part of the problem. They can explain a company or help analyze information, but they do not automatically know what the investor owns, what they paid, what conclusions they reached previously, or why they made a particular decision.

That means investors often need to provide the same context repeatedly, and the resulting analysis can become disconnected from the notes and processes they rely on over time.

Investi wanted to create the opposite experience: a persistent workspace where an investor’s notes, theses, portfolio, and research method remain available and become more useful as the investor continues working.

Brokerage connectivity was an important part of that vision.

Without it, the workspace could know which companies a user was researching, but not which securities the user actually owned or how large those positions were. For Investi, position weights are what turn company research into portfolio-aware research.

Knowing that a position represents 15% of everything an investor owns, for example, may change what that investor should investigate next.

From company research to portfolio-aware analysis

Connecting a brokerage account through SnapTrade brings holdings, cash, and activity into the Investi workspace.

Consider an investor deciding whether to add to a position she already holds.

After connecting a brokerage account, her holdings, cash, and trade history appear in the Investi workspace. She can see position sizes, cost basis, current values, and how the portfolio has performed against the S&P 500.

From the company page for the stock she is considering, she asks the analyst how much of her portfolio is already exposed to that sector.

The analyst reads her actual positions, adds up the real weights, and shows the math behind its answer. The result reveals that two existing holdings already account for most of that exposure, which is not what she assumed.

She then asks the analyst to compare the latest information with a thesis she wrote in March. The analyst reads the note alongside the latest filing and current figures, and explains which parts of her original reasoning still hold and which do not.

When she decides to update the thesis, the analyst proposes the change as an edit that she can accept or reject.

Before leaving, she saves the question as a monitor scheduled to run on the morning after the company’s next earnings report. When the check runs, the result appears as a full conversation that she can review and continue.

How SnapTrade supports the portfolio experience

SnapTrade provides the brokerage connectivity behind the portfolio side of Investi.

Investi built the research workspace, the AI analyst, and everything the user sees. SnapTrade handles getting brokerage account data into the product.

The integration uses the SnapTrade Connection Portal for authentication. Investors authenticate with their own brokerage, and their brokerage credentials never reach Investi’s servers.

Authentication happens in the SnapTrade Connection Portal, so credentials never reach Investi.

From there, Investi retrieves:

  • Positions with cost basis
  • Cash balances
  • Account details
  • Transaction history

Trading is something Investi is thinking seriously about, and expects to bring in eventually as the product evolves.

Transaction history has also become especially important to the product.

Current holdings provide a snapshot of where a portfolio stands today. The activity ledger allows Investi to reconstruct what the portfolio was worth over time.

Investi uses that history to support portfolio analytics including time-weighted returns, benchmark comparisons, risk measures, and drawdowns.

Why Investi chose SnapTrade

Building and maintaining direct brokerage integrations would have required Investi to account for different authentication systems, data structures, and broker-specific behavior.

For a small team, that could have meant initially supporting only two or three brokerages while dedicating substantial engineering time to integration maintenance.

Investi chose SnapTrade because the Connection Portal keeps brokerage credentials away from Investi’s infrastructure, the coverage allowed the company to launch with many supported institutions, including Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Robinhood, and Interactive Brokers, and the available transaction data was detailed enough for Investi’s portfolio-performance calculations.

That allowed the team to focus on the part of the product it was uniquely positioned to build: the investment research workspace and AI analyst.

“Brokerage connections are the kind of problem that can quietly eat a small team for a year, and the work is invisible when it goes well. SnapTrade meant we never had to build it. Our users log in with their own broker instead of handing us credentials, we launched with broad brokerage coverage from day one instead of the handful we could’ve built ourselves, and we got to spend that time on the research side of the product instead.”
